• Westerly school's spirit stick program encourages safe and kind conduct (turnto10.com) — State Street Elementary in Westerly is using a “spirit stick” reward system to recognize kids who are safe, honest, assertive, responsible, kind, and persistent. Students earn shark cards from staff for good behavior, trade them for themed spirit sticks, and even get their photo on a big screen after collecting all six, reinforcing positive habits they’ll carry into middle school. 
• South County Habitat for Humanity gets $200K from Bank of America for homebuilding (thewesterlysun.com) — A major 22-home Habitat for Humanity neighborhood called Hickory Knoll is moving forward in Westerly, backed by a new $200,000 Bank of America grant to South County Habitat. The funding will help the Charlestown-based nonprofit expand affordable housing across Washington County, while its director also serves on Westerly’s new Permanent Housing Committee, shaping local policy on the housing crisis.
• Boys soccer postseason: Westerly used its united family to create positive culture on the pitch (thewesterlysun.com) — Westerly High’s boys soccer team wrapped up a hard-fought season built around a “united family” culture that coaches say reflected well on the town. Despite a 6-12-2 record and a playoff loss to Chariho, several Bulldogs earned all-division and all-academic honors, and seniors were praised for setting a positive tone that younger players can build on.
