West Greenwich is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that West Greenwich has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • Did you know that West Greenwich was incorporated as a separate town from East Greenwich in 1741, and the original deed dividing the town's 35,000 acres of land was executed in 1709? Later, the town's population saw a significant increase from 1920 to 1970, growing from 387 to 1,841.
  • West Greenwich is home to the fascinating Stepstone Falls, a series of natural waterfalls found at the end of a three-mile hike. Located in the Arcadia Management Area, the falls are a popular spot for hiking, fishing, and picnicking.
  • Dan's Place, a beloved restaurant in West Greenwich, has been serving up delicious food in a family-friendly atmosphere since 2009. In addition to an extensive menu featuring gluten-free options, Dan's Place also boasts a full bar and live music on weekends, making it a favorite gathering spot for locals and visitors alike.
  • If you're a fan of the outdoors, you'll love the many recreational opportunities at Big River Management Area. This beautiful park covers over 8,000 acres and offers hiking, fishing, and hunting. The park also features sand dunes and historic stone foundations throughout.
  • West Greenwich is home to Leyden Farm Vineyard and Winery, a family-owned farm that has been producing Christmas trees for three generations but diversified in 2010 to grow strawberries, blueberries, and grapes for unique wines. With daily indoor and outdoor wine tastings, visitors can enjoy the beautiful farm year-round and even bring along their leashed furry friends.
