Virginian Arrested On Gun Charge In West Greenwich: Cops

WEST GREENWICH, RI — A Virginia man was arrested on a gun charge in Rhode Island, police said.

Clarence Thompson Jr., 56, of Portsmouth, Virginia, was taken into custody shortly before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

Thompson was arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in West Greenwich, according to the release.

Thompson was "transported to the Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and held overnight pending" an arraignment at Third Division District Court, the release said.
