Westerley Man Arrested On Gun Charges: Cops

The Westerley man was taken into custody during a traffic stop, police said.

WEST GREENWICH, RI — A Westerley man wanted on a gun charge was apprehended Friday morning, police said.

Kerry Malik, 51, was arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in West Greenwich shortly after 3 a.m., the Rhode Island State Police said in a media release.

Malik was wanted on a Washington County Superior Court Bench warrant charging him with carrying a pistol or revolver without a permit, according to the release.

The warrant originated from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, the release said.

Malik was also arrested on charges of weapons other than firearms prohibited, according to the release.

"Malik was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and held overnight pending arraignment in Third Division District Court.," the release said.
