Woonsocket Police might not have arrested Hope Sullivan, 25 of 258 Dulude Ave., Apt. 1 when she told her roommate leave, except she emphasized her demand with a knife.
Woonsocket Police were called to the apartment July 21 at about 10:30 a.m., by Sullivan's roommate and former intimate partner, Brandon Courtermanche, 26, who said she had come after him with a knife.
Patrolman Michael Martufi spoke with Sullivan, who told him that she suspected Courtemanche, whom she said had recently moved out, of stealing from her. So, she said, when he came over that day, she went into the kitchen, got a knife, walked up to Courtemanche and yelled at him to leave, according to Martufi's report.
Martufi replied that suspicion of stealing isn't a license to start pointing knives at people, to which Sullivan replied, "Well, I already put the knife back."
Courtemanche told Martufi that he lives at the address but hasn't stayed there for about two weeks due to ongoing difficulties with Hope. He said he had to return to the apartment to drop his son off with his son's mother, who also lives at the address. He said he was speaking with his son's mother when Sullivan approached him, yelling, and then went to the kitchen, returning with a large kitchen knife.
Courtemanche said Sullivan stood a foot away from him while she screamed at him and told him she was going to stab him if he didn't leave. He said he believed her threat, so he got away from her and called police. He said Sullivan put the knife away after he made the call and walked outside.
Courtemanche's son's mother told Martufi Sullivan had held the knife, a 7-inch blade, up to the man's face and told him, "Get the [expletive deleted] out or I'm going to cut you," according to Martufi's report.
Sullivan was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a felony.
