Woonsocket Woman Arrested for Theft from Smithfield Home Depot

Kendra Lee Lopes, 25, faces one felony count of embezzlement over $100.

Smithfield Police arrested a Woonsocket woman after employees of The Home Depot say she tried to steal items from the Smithfield store.

Kendra Lee Lopes, 25, of 20 Welles St., Woonsocket, faces one count of felony embezzlement following her arrest on May 25 at 1:30 pm.

Patrol Ofc. Gary Masterson responded to the Home Depot at The Crossing at Smithfield and spoke with Albert Sullivan, who said that Lopes, who was a cashier at the store, had been found in possession of about $400 in stolen merchandise, including a $129 Toro 24-volt hedge trimmer and a $99 leaf blower.

Masterson also listed a 100-ft. extension cord valued at about $90, a 31-qt. mop bucket valued at about $50, and mini blinds valued at $17 among the items.

Officers presented Lopes for arraignment on May 25 in Third District Court, Warwick. She was released on personal recognizance until a July 29 hearing
