Man dies nearly a month after wreck involving car, lawnmower (wspa.com) — A 73-year-old Anderson man has died nearly a month after being hit by a car while riding his lawnmower on Snow Road at Amber Driver in Anderson. He was airlifted to Prisma Health Greenville after the November 17 crash and later passed away under hospice care. Authorities say the wreck remains under investigation but has been ruled an accident.

2. SLED: Man charged after placing stolen lottery tickets in pants, using them at another store (wistv.com) — An Anderson County man is accused of stealing South Carolina Education Lottery scratch-off tickets from the Raceway on Clemson Boulevard in Anderson, hiding them in his pants, and later cashing them at another nearby store. State agents say surveillance video supports the charges, which include intent to defraud, counterfeit game tickets, and tampering with a lottery game.

3. Upcountry Fiber Foundation gives $27,500 to local Upstate non-profits (whosonthemove.com) — Anderson County nonprofits are getting a major boost, with the Anderson Arts Center and AIM among seven Upstate groups sharing $27,500 in new grants from the Upcountry Fiber Foundation. The funding will support at-risk youth art programs, housing and financial stability services, food assistance, and other critical help for vulnerable families across Anderson and neighboring counties.

4. One key, hundreds of victims: Inside the crime wave hitting East Coast mailboxes (foxcarolina.com) — A recent federal postal investigation included a case in Anderson where a 75-year-old woman’s identity was stolen after her mail was taken, wrecking her credit. Investigators say organized crime rings are using stolen postal “arrow keys” to raid mailboxes across South Carolina, especially during the holidays, and are urging tougher penalties and better precautions to protect residents’ personal information.
