• Columbia-area school board broke SC law with superintendent settlement, judge rules (postandcourier.com) — A Richland County judge has ruled that Lexington-Richland Five, which serves the Chapin area, violated South Carolina’s open-meetings law when it secretly approved a 2021 separation deal with former superintendent Christina Melton. The decision backs a newspaper’s FOIA lawsuit and criticizes the closed-door handling of a $226,000 agreement, with a more detailed order still to come. 
• Green Wave finishes as runner-up at Cane Bay Duals (postandcourier.com) — Chapin High’s wrestling team is highlighted briefly in a recap of the Cane Bay Duals, where Summerville beat Chapin 47-25 on its way to the finals. The tournament also featured Hanahan, Wando, Ashley Ridge and Lugoff-Elgin, giving Chapin fans a sense of how their squad stacks up early this season.
