- The Charleston County Sheriff's Office put out a press release to warn the public about scam calls being made in the area. Officials claim that the scammers are impersonating deputies from the Sheriff's Office and telling residents a family member is being held. The goal is to trick residents out of bail money. If you've received one of these calls and fallen victim, you can report it to 843-202-1700. (WCBD News 2)
- According to county officials, roads across West Ashley will be closed at night from now until Mar. 22. Construction on Windermere Boulevard from Folly Road to Chadwick Drive will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily. The road is being patched, milled, resurfaced, and restriped. There will be traffic directors on-site to help guide local residents. (WCBD News 2)
- Rhonda Jerome is the only person so far to claim her candidacy for the position of mayor of North Charleston. Jerome's platform mostly focuses on cleaning up the streets to reduce crime and increase education rates to pre-COVID numbers. If elected, she would be the first mayor of North Charleston. - Funding was secured in the 2023 budget for the long-awaited improvements to the Charleston 9 Memorial Park. Preliminary work is in progress, and it will be necessary to close the park beginning Monday, Mar. 20 until approximately mid-June. This closure will assist the contractor in maintaining its timeline to ensure it is ready to open before the Jun. 18 anniversary. (Charleston Fire Department via Facebook)
