This comes on top of earlier settlements exceeding $863,000 from several Folly Beach businesses and insurers. The driver previously received a 25-year sentence for felony DUI resulting in death.

• SC man runs 200 miles from Charleston to Columbia, raising money for kids to attend camp (abccolumbia.com) — A South Carolina runner just kicked off a 200-mile charity trek from Charleston to Columbia, turning a coastal-to-capital route into a big win for kids’ summer camp access. Michael Davis smashed his $5,000 fundraising goal, bringing in about $11,000 to help send children to Young Life Christian Camp who otherwise couldn’t afford to go.
