  1. Charleston was ranked No. 1 for the sixth year in a row in Southern Living's annual South's Best Awards. Charleston Board Chair and Bulldog Tours Founder John LaVerne said, "Being honored for the sixth year demonstrates our ability to remain relevant and to consistently provide high-quality, engaging, and authentic visitor experiences in a highly-competitive industry." The only other South Carolina city to make the list was Greenville, which came in at seventh place. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  2. The Trust for Public Land is partnering with the College of Charleston to conduct a study to promote park access. The partnership comes after the nonprofit created a map that shows unequal park access in South Carolina; 53 percent of Charleston residents can walk to a park within 10 minutes, and only 19 percent and 12 percent of Goose Creek and Summerville residents, respectively, have the same access. Through the partnership, they hope to create guidelines and tips for cities to strengthen park equity. (ABC NEWS 4)
  3. At a Mar. 7 meeting, the Charleston County Council held a second hearing on a proposed ordinance to appropriate an additional $3.8 million for the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. The ordinance, which failed to be passed by one vote, would have amended the 2022-2023 budget ordinance, and its failure means the sheriff's office will not receive the competitive pay proposal.
