- Ralph VA Health Care System in Charleston was able to find 432 permanent housing locations for Veterans experiencing homelessness in 2022. Housing placements included the reunion with friends or family, and apartments or houses to rent. The VA was able to surpass their 2022 goal to house 38,000 by housing 40,401 in the country. (ABC NEWS 4)
- Commuters on I-26 eastbound in North Charleston on Tuesday morning faced major delays from a crash. The two left lanes near the Aviation Avenue exit were blocked as crews worked to clear the crash scene. Shortly after, a vehicle fire occurred near mile marker 209 around 9:03 a.m. It's not clear if anyone was injured in either incident. The drive time from Summerville to downtown Charleston peaked at over two hours. (Live 5 WCSC)
- A teenager at Lowcountry Acceleration Academy in North Charleston was arrested on Monday. Zhyleke Johnson, 18, told school staff he had brought a firearm to school and showed her where it was outside. Police said the firearm was stolen out of Charleston. Johnson was charged with unlawful carrying and carrying weapons on school property. (WCBD News 2)
