Charleston Wildfire Forces Elementary School Evacuation: Police

JOHNS ISLAND, SC — Angel Oak Elementary School in Johns Island was evacuated and Chisholm Road temporarily closed because of a wildfire in the area, according to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies assisted with the evacuation, and the students were relocated to St. John's High School, according to authorities. No students were injured.

Firefighters have the blaze under control, and Chisholm Road has reopened, authorities said. The cause of the fire is unknown.
