TeachCharleston - Ella Larson is fulfilling her dream of working with children (ccsdschools.com) — Charleston County School District’s TeachCharleston program is helping 23-year-old Lambs Elementary teacher and James Island alum Ella Larson turn her passion for working with children into a classroom career. Now in her second year of the alternative certification pathway, she’s teaching independently, earning a master’s degree, and credits strong mentors and her principal father for guiding her into Charleston’s schools.
   

2. Record-breaking numbers of flyers expected at Charleston International Airport during the holiday travel period (counton2.com) — If you’re flying through Charleston International this holiday season, expect record passenger crowds and plan to arrive early, especially for parking and security. Airport leaders say traffic could top 230,000 travelers, but report operations are running smoothly, with extra holiday music, decorations, and TSA packing tips aimed at keeping Charleston trips as stress-free as possible.
   

3. Charleston County schools celebrate historic test score gains (live5news.com) — Charleston County students just posted their strongest reading and math gains since before the pandemic, outpacing state averages on SC Ready tests. District leaders credit literacy and math initiatives, and are now pushing for universal pre-K on the Peninsula and higher teacher pay to keep top educators in Charleston classrooms.
   

4. Former champion Bencic joins Charleston Open field (postandcourier.com) — Tennis fans in Charleston can look forward to former champion Belinda Bencic returning for the 2026 Credit One Charleston Open at Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island. The 2022 tournament winner joins a strong field including Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, and Emma Navarro for the March 28–April 5 event, which typically draws more than 90,000 attendees.
