Charleston Woman Accused of Bilking $50k from Vulnerable Adult

Charleston County deputies arrested a Charleston woman Tuesday and charged her with exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

According to the arrest warrant, Sharon V. Hollington, 53, allegedly used her access to a man's banking account for $52,675 in personal expenditures, including paying her rent.

The victim is a 57-year-old man, who has been diagnosed as "mentally retarded," according to the report. Hollington had access to the victim's account because she was supposed to be helping him pay his bills as he has problems with reading and writing, the report stated.

Investigation revealed that during the period of March 2008 until August 2012, Hollington used her position of trust to defraud the victim out of the money, according to a statement by Charleston County Sheriff's office.
