- The College of Charleston received a $2 million grant to collect and preserve the state's Lowcountry social and cultural history. The Mellon Foundation awarded the grant to the college's Avery Research Center for African American History and Culture. President of the College of Charleston Andrew T. Hsu said, "This grant is a true difference maker for the College's Avery Research Center and our entire campus." (GlobeNewswire)
- According to Stacker, Charleston is one of the fastest-growing cities in the metro area. The typical home value in the city is $532,306 – making it the 11th most expensive city in the metro. Sullivan came in at No. 1 on the list with a typical home value of $3,725,937. (Count On 2)
- South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster ordered flags to fly at half-staff on Friday. The order was to honor longtime Lowcountry politician Arthur Ravenel, Jr., who died on Jan. 16 at 95.
