  1. Yesterday, Feb. 21, Charleston police arrested 20-year-old Teloyn Rivers in connection to multiple gunshots fired on 2308 Delano St. on Monday night. Rivers was charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon, discharging a firearm, and simply possessing marijuana.(ABC NEWS 4)
  2. Avondale residents created a petition asking Charleston County to stop the proposed realignment that would connect Nicholson Street with Avondale Avenue. Residents are worried that the project will turn Avondale into a “cut-through” community, leading to more congestion and safety issues. The project is part of the Savannah Highway Capacity and Intersection Improvement Project, which aims to improve safety, traffic flow, and pedestrian access at critical intersections along the corridor. Resident Katherine Anderson said she thinks the county needs "to listen more to the residents that are directly impacted, that own property, that have lived here for numerous years, about how the quality of their lives are going to change as a result of this." (ABC NEWS 4)
  3. On Monday, Feb. 20, 10 wounded Ukrainian soldiers arrived in Charleston, where they will spend a few days after receiving free prosthetics from the Minnesota-based Protez Foundation in the United States. Supporters greeted the soldiers at Charleston International Airport, and Palmetto Carriage Works provided free carriage rides around the historic downtown area. Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg and local representatives of CHS4Ukraine, including President Maka Aptsiauri, Secretary Anna Spann, and Treasurer Kenneth Marolda, will recognize the soldiers and listen to their wartime experiences during a meeting at City Hall tomorrow, Feb. 23. The City Hall event, scheduled on the eve of the first anniversary of the Russian invasion, is open to the public. (Count On News 2)
