Deputies Issue Warrant for Father of Baby Veronica

Dusten Brown is expected to turn himself into Iowa military authorities Sunday.

Charleston County Sheriff's Office have issued a warrant for the biological father of a child wrapped up in a national custody dispute.

Dusten Brown, 31, of Nowata, Okla., is wanted for custodial interference. According to deputies, Brown has failed to transfer custody of the child known as Baby Veronica to her adoptive, Charleston-area parents.

Custody was awarded to James Island couple Matt and Melanie Capobianco as ordered by the 9th Judicial Circuit of Family Court issued on July 31, 2013 and Aug. 1, 2013, after years of court battles.

Officials in Iowa where Brown is on military duty are aware of the warrant and Brown is expected to turn himself into military authorities on Sunday when he returns for duty. Upon his arrest the extradition process to return him to Charleston will begin.
