Father of Baby Veronica Turns Himself In on Custodial Interference Charge

Baby Veronica still not located.

The biological father of a young girl caught in a custody dispute has turned himself in on a custodial interference allegation that he has not returned Baby Veronica to her Charleston area adoptive parents.

Dusten Brown, 32, of Nowata, Okla., turned himself in Monday after Charleston County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for custodial interference over the weekend.

Brown turned himself at the Sequoyah County, Okla., Sheriff’s Department. Brown and his attorney attended a bond hearing resulting in a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.

Baby Veronica has been the spotlight of a national custody dispute between Brown, a member of a Cherokee tribe, and James Island couple Matt and Melanie Capobianco, who won custody a few weeks ago after years of court battles.
