  1. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will formally announce her 2024 presidential run on Feb. 15 at an event in Charleston. The announcement will make Haley the first Republican to challenge Donald Trump for candidacy. Haley teased the presidential run on Twitter and included a video this week, where she said, "It's time for a new generation to lead." (Subscription: The Post and Courier)
  2. A local 19-year-old has been arrested after a police chase on Jan. 31. A Charleston County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop Tyesha R. Smith for a traffic violation in North Charleston when she did not stop and fled at high speed on Rivers Avenue. Smith collided with three vehicles during the chase and hit a utility pole, which disabled her car. No serious injuries were reported and Smith was arrested for numerous charges, including one for the loaded Glock pistol found inside the vehicle. (WCIV)
  3. Juan Jimenez, 38, has been charged with attempted murder after cutting a man's throat in Charleston at a Bolton Street residence. The North Charleston man is also charged with possessing a weapon during a violent crime for the Tuesday evening crime. Jimenez was arrested just after 12:00 a.m. (Live 5 News WCSC)
