  1. The AHEAD Study is conducting a groundbreaking clinical trial in Charleston to prevent people from developing symptoms of Alzheimer's disease by recruiting diverse participants. The study, held at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, provides the Alzheimer's drug Lecanemab to eligible volunteers over 55 with amyloid plaque building in their brains. To be eligible, participants cannot be diagnosed with Alzheimer's and must undergo physical exams, memory and thinking tests, and PET and MRI scans. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  2. A Thursday morning fire on Ashley Avenue was caused by a magnifying-style mirror. Upon arrival, the Charleston Fire Department did not observe any smoke or fire but noticed light smoke coming from the home during their walkaround. After forcing entry into the home, firefighters found a burning curtain and quickly extinguished it. Residents of the home were not present at the time. (ABC NEWS 4)
  3. North Charleston police reported a crash that occurred on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Rivers and Aviation avenues. The crash affected traffic in the area and police advised drivers to avoid the location. It is currently unclear whether or not there were any injuries resulting from the crash. (Live 5 News WCSC)
