High Surf Risk For Charleston Beaches through Friday Morning

High rip current and high surf advisories are in effect for Charleston area beaches through Thursday as Hurricane Arthur bypasses the South Carolina coast.

Steer clear of Charleston area beaches Thursday due to choppy seas caused by Hurricane Arthur.

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a high rip current advisory for the Charleston area through 8 p.m. Thursday, and a high surf advisory for Charleston county beaches through midnight Friday.

Any boaters headed out in the inclement seas are advised by NWS to take extreme caution in inlets, cuts, bays.

Hurricane Arthur is headed northeasterly toward the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where it is expected to make landfall Thursday night.
