Lowcountry Gets Off with Only Light Impact from Andrea
Tropical storm force winds caused only minimal damages and the heavier bands of rain largely bypassed the Charleston area as Tropical Storm Andrea passed through early Friday
Strong winds brought down some tree limbs and about 1,000 people lost power, but the feared flood waters never arrived as Tropical Storm Andrea passed through the Lowcountry Friday.
SCE&G reported via Twitter that as many as 1,000 homes and businesses lost power between Charleston, Columbia and Agusta. Power had been restored to approximately have of those customers by 11 a.m.
Most of the storm's heavier rain bands remained offshore as the storm blew through the area leaving most Charleston area roads free of standing water, though large puddles formed in a few spots downtown.
