Here are the top three stories in Charleston today:

  1. On Saturday night in downtown Charleston, a man was arrested and taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center for allegedly refusing to leave a bar, harassing customers, and eventually threatening a police officer. Police arrived at Henry's Bar and Grill after being informed that Waid Powell was apparently intoxicated and causing an issue outside of the establishment. En route to the detention center, the suspect reportedly began to insult and curse at one of the officers, saying that he "[does] not make threats [but] makes promises." Powell has been placed on criminal trespass notice from the bar, and faces charges of disorderly conduct and threatening the life of a public employee. (WCBD News 2)
  2. Early Sunday morning, a Mount Pleasant woman was arrested and charged with DUI and child endangerment after being pulled over on I-26. According to a North Charleston patrol officer, Pham had glossy eyes and a strong scent of alcohol in addition to multiple failed sobriety tests, eventually blowing twice the legal BAC at 0.16 percent. Her 8-year-old child was reportedly in the front passenger seat during the traffic stop. Pham was released hours later from custody, according to jail records. (ABC NEWS 4)
  3. Down just over 48 cents from this time last year, gas prices in South Carolina are averaging right below $3 per gallon as of Monday morning. A weekly survey of over 3,000 stations statewide found the average price of gas is $2.97 per gallon β€” down by about 27 cents from last month. Past trends say that you can expect prices to go up at some point, but with the direction that inflation is going, it could be offset to some degree. Prices of gas in South Carolina go from $2.65 to $3.59 per gallon; Summerville BP station offers the lowest price in the Tri-County charging $2.85 per gallon. (Live 5 News WCSC)
