- Dominque Romane Carter, 31, was sentenced to 12 years in prison yesterday for killing a woman after driving into her home. Stacey Greeg Rowlett, 49, was killed instantly in her North Charleston home when she was crushed by Carter's vehicle on Feb. 8, 2020. Carter had been intoxicated during the crash. - Marcus Shell, a chef in Charleston, has been named one of the 2023 South Carolina Chef Ambassadors. Shell, a New England native, is the executive chef of 39 Rue De Jean. South Carolina chefs Erica McCier (Indigenous Underground in Abbeville) and Rob Masone (Kounter in Rock Hill) were also named ambassadors. (ABC NEWS 4)
- Late-Night Establishment Permits take effect on Feb. 13 in Charleston. Businesses were required to have an application for the permit submitted yesterday if they fit the specifications of an establishment that serves alcohol and operates past midnight. The new permit is an update to the long-standing ordinance already in effect. (Live 5 News WCSC)
