- An iconic property at 59 Church St. in Charleston has been sold for an impressive $8.6 million. The pre-Revolutionary War house, constructed in 1760, is a treasured piece of history that has undergone careful and extensive restoration work throughout the years. The property features four bedrooms, multiple fireplaces, four full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, a walled garden, and a rooftop terrace. (Subscription: Charleston Post Courier)
- A man was saved from jumping off the Ravenel Bridge on Feb. 22. Charleston police officers Dylan Kwitchoff and Zachariah Azaria were patrolling the bridge when a call came in that a man was on the side of the bridge threatening to jump off. After 10-15 minutes of conversations with the officers – on a first-name basis – the man asked for their help to be pulled to safety. Azaria said, "Communication is the most important thing I can give to any trainee or any other officer in the department because that's what we use in order to deal with this situation." (ABC NEWS 4)
- The cause of a fire that broke out in North Charleston yesterday is currently under investigation by authorities. Emergency services were alerted to the blaze around 4:31 a.m. in the 5600 block of Rivers Avenue. North Charleston Fire Department attended the scene, and initial reports indicated the fire was burning in a nearby dumpster before spreading to the building, which was emitting significant smoke. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire and confirmed that the building was unoccupied. (Live 5 News WCSC)
