  1. The South Carolina Department of Transportation District Six is working on a "700 Crosswalks" initiative, which aims to update or install 700 crosswalks across six counties, including Charleston, by 2025. The project involves adding pedestrian signal heads and pushbuttons and modernizing existing pedestrian ramps, buttons, and signals. The project has completed 288 crosswalks, with 412 left to be completed, and current project locations include Summerville, Moncks Corner, and Hanahan. (CHStoday)
  2. A fatal accident occurred in Ravenel when an Amtrak train collided with a Buick SUV at a railroad crossing while the crossing arms were activated. The accident resulted in the death of the SUV driver, who had been ejected from the vehicle. Fortunately, no passengers or crew on the train were injured, and there was no serious damage to the train. (Live 5 News WCSC)
  3. A 53-year-old man named Ernest Nesbit has been arrested by North Charleston police for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child on Lawerence Street. The incident occurred on Sep. 9, 2022, while the child was alone. Nesbit has been charged with criminal sexual conduct in the third degree. (ABC NEWS 4)
