Second Suspect in Coming Street Robbery, Burglary Charged
A second Charleston man has been charged in connection with a March 23 armed robbery and burglary at 41 Coming St.

Charleston Police filed several charges against a 22-year-old Charleston man Wednesday in connection with a March 23 armed robbery and burglary at a Coming Street home.
Robert Grant, 22, of Fishburne Street, is charged with three counts of armed robbery, burglary — 1st degree and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, according to a Charleston Police Department statement.
Police had previously charged Marquis Grampus, 19, of North Romney Street, in connection with the same crime. Grampus is also charged with three counts of armed robbery, burglary — 1st degree and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Grampus was apprehended on the evening of the alleged crime.

Around 12:30 p.m. on March 23, two armed men entered an apartment at 41 Coming Street, held the occupants at gunpoint and robbed them of their mobile phones and video games, putting the items into a backpack, according to the CPD incident report. At some point during the incident the victims fought back and chased the armed robbers from the apartment. They sustained minor injuries in the process.
A College of Charleston Public Safety officer happened to be near the intersection of Bull and Coming streets when the one of the alleged robbers (Grampus) emerged from the Coming Street home being chased by the victims, who shouted "That guy just robbed us." The CofC officer and another witness tackled and detained Grampus, according to the incident report.
