Clemson graduate student pioneers nanotechnology-based therapy for heart disease (clemson.edu) β A Clemson University graduate student is developing a nanotechnology-based therapy that could one day more directly clear dangerous cholesterol from arteries, potentially transforming heart disease treatment. Working in Clemsonβs food, nutrition and packaging sciences program, sheβs using engineered nanoparticles to deliver DNA instructions that help artery cells remove plaque, while continuing her research locally as a new doctoral student.

Menacing hornets found in SC near Charlotte, two years after invading Lowcountry (thestate.com) β Clemson University scientists are responding after a nest of invasive yellow-legged hornets was discovered in York County, raising concerns for South Carolinaβs honeybee populations. Researchers based in Clemson are tracking and removing nests and asking residents statewide, including in the Clemson area, to report any suspicious hornet sightings using the universityβs online form.
