Clemson police enhance surveillance for better public safety (wspa.com) — If you’ve noticed more cameras around downtown Clemson, police say they’re part of upgraded surveillance tools meant to solve crimes faster and keep residents safer. New systems can read license plates, use AI to track clothing descriptions, and support cooperation with Clemson University and local businesses, while officials stress they’re not using the technology to spy on people.
   

2. Colored light changes how music makes us feel (earth.com) — A Clemson University architecture professor is leading new research showing how colored indoor lighting can change the way music feels, with warm white light boosting happy songs and blue better matching sad tracks. The small but detailed lab study offers practical tips for venues, homes, and even care facilities on pairing lighting with playlists to support comfort, mood, and wellbeing.
   

3. Outstanding staff members recognized at holiday luncheon (clemson.edu) — Clemson residents may recognize some familiar names among the staff from Clemson University’s College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences who were honored at a Dec. 8 holiday luncheon. Awards highlighted technical, administrative and overall excellence, with Dean Anand Gramopadhye praising staff for their impact on students, faculty and colleagues. Several coordinators, advisors and a lab manager received top recognition.
   

4. Clemson STRIDE ART Academy applications open for Spring 2026 program (clemson.edu) — Clemson University researchers can now apply for the Spring 2026 STRIDE ART Academy, a seven-session program that helps turn campus discoveries into real-world products and services. Running February 18 through April 8, the academy covers topics like IP, industry partnerships, business formation and funding, with a chance to compete for STRIDE funding afterward. Applications are due February 2, 2026.
   

5. Clemson at work in 2025: Year in review (clemson.edu) — Clemson residents can look back on a huge year for Clemson University, from a $6.4 billion statewide economic impact to record enrollment, major research grants, and new facilities like the Nieri Family Alumni and Visitors Center. The year also brought viral national moments, athletic milestones, expanded rural health work in Pickens and Anderson counties, and President Jim Clements’ decision to retire at year’s end.
