2 Face Charges in Weekend Five Points Drug Investigation

Two men face multiple drug charges after weekend arrests in Five Points.

Columbia Police arrested two men in separate drug investigations in Five Points over the weekend.

Timothy Love, Jr., 28, is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of marijuana, failure to stop on police command, pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs upon a highway and littering.

Police say shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, an officer ordered Love to stop running in the 700 block of Pavilion Street. During a brief foot chase, Love tried to hide in between two vehicles in a parking lot at the 2100 block of Greene Street, and then ran into the roadway, according to a news release.

Love allegedly threw a bag containing a white powdery substance, which police later determined to be cocaine, on the ground while running from officers.

A second bag containing a substance that tested positive for marijuana was found in the parking lot, according to police.

During a second incident at approximately 12:30 a.m., another officer discovered marijuana, cocaine, and more than $1,200 in cash on another suspect in the 800 block of Harden Street.

Kelly Cokley, 25, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of marijuana, and manufacturing/distribution of cocaine.

Both suspects were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
