Here are the top three stories today in Columbia:
- The Columbia Police Department revealed that they have seized 48 illegally possessed guns so far in 2022. They are on track to have as many or more illegal gun possession charges than they did in 2021. This new data comes after reports of guns being stolen out of cars. (WIS10)
- The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who allegedly stole items from a Columbia Walmart. The man is caught on camera stealing over $2000 in jewelry from the Walmart on Two Notch Road. Police have shared pictures of the surveillance video online in order to help identify the man. (WIS10)
- Columbia College has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report for several of its online degree programs, including a ranking of 37 in the nation for its Masters in Criminal Justice program. Graduates of this program have gone on to work at agencies like the SC Law Enforcement Division, SC Highway Control, Connecticut State Police, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Columbia College was also ranked on U.S. News's lists of Best Online Bachelor's Programs and Best Online Masters in Education. (News 19)
