Arson Caused Apartment Blaze at The Club, Officials Say

A fire that damaged 24 apartments at The Club at Carolina Stadium and caused $400,000 in damages has been ruled as arson, Columbia Fire officials said Thursday.

Fire investigators determined the blaze was deliberately set, ruling out accidental and providential causes, Columbia Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins said.The fire department would not release information about evidence found in the ongoing investigation.

The department is looking for an unknown person who alerted residents of the fire, Jenkins said, to personally thank him.
Officials think the man seen in the attached photo may also have information that could assist in the investigation. The man is not a suspect.
