Back-to-School Events Scheduled in Richland 1

The first day of school is almost here. 

Check out these events that have been scheduled to help kick off the start of the new school year:

Saturday, August 17: Lower Richland Back-to-School Celebration

The Richard Seymour BGC Foundation will host its annual back-to-school celebration for the Lower Richland community in the auditorium of Lower Richland High School, 2615 Lower Richland Boulevard. The event begins at noon and includes entertainment, backpacks filled with school supplies and snacks. Computers and other door prizes will be won by some lucky families. Students and families in the Lower Richland area including Eastover, Gadsden and Hopkins are invited to attend.

Saturday, August 17: Sportsarama

Memorial Stadium, 100 Airport Boulevard

Kickoff: 6 p.m.

Tickets: $6

The gridiron action will be hot as Richland One teams kick off the start of the high school football season with this lineup: 

Game 1:      Columbia vs. C.A. Johnson
Game 2:      Lower Richland vs. Eau Claire

Game 3:      A. C. Flora vs. Richland Northeast

Game 4:      Dreher vs. W.J. Keenan

Monday, August 19:  First day of school for students
