Bike-A-Thon, "Sharknado", Brew at the Zoo and More
Here's a look at five things you should know today.

The city of Columbia will host the 2013 Youth Emporium, Inc. Big Ten Bike-A-Thon to raise awareness of childhood obesity and obesity-related illnesses. The two-day event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a 1.5-mile bike ride. Other events include a tricked out bike contest, games, cooking demonstrations and more. For more information, click here.
2. Brew at the Zoo
Sample more than 100 specialty domestic, imports and microbrews at Riverbanks' Brew at the Zoo. Local band Whiskey Tango Revue will perform. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.riverbanks.org.
3. Riverbanks Zoo's Toucan Tuesdays
Two people can visit Riverbanks Zoo for the price of one on Tuesday with a donation of two non-perishable food items for Harvest Hope. Guests who donate also save on ICEE's, fountain drinks and more. Details here.

5. Open Registration for Back-To-School Drills and Skills Clinics and Health Fair
Registration is underway for the Mayor’s annual Back-To-School Drills and Skills Clinics and Health Fair. The event is held Aug. 12-16. Registration is required for Drill and Skills. The deadline to register is by Friday, Aug. 9.
