Board Approves Zoning Request for Whitney Hotel

The Columbia Board of Zoning Appeals approved a Midlands company's request to allow for multifamily use at the Whitney Hotel.

A Columbia zoning board approved a request Tuesday to turn the Whitney Hotel into a site for multifamily housing, according to The State.

The 75-unit hotel can function as condos or apartments. 

Whitney Hotel is located at 700 Woodrow Street in the Shandon community.

The building, which was constructed in 1984 or 1985, was built as a multifamily condominium building before being converted into hotel in 1986, according to an application to the zoning board. See the application here
