Update: Boil Water Advisory Repealed for Area Near Monticello Road

Water customers in the Windhill Drive and Sunbelt Boulevard area should vigorously boil their water for at least one minute before drinking or cooking.

Update, 12 p.m. July 8, 2013: A boil water advisory for residents in the Windhill Drive and Sunbelt Boulevard area has been lifted. 

Residents no longer need to boil their water. 

Original story, July 6, 2013: 
The City of Columbia Water Works issued a boil water advisory for residents near Monticello Road after a 10-inch water main break Saturday afternoon.

Water customers in the Windhill Drive and Sunbelt Boulevard area should vigorously boil their water for at least one minute before drinking or cooking.

Any residents near the affected area who have lost water or water pressure are also advised to boil their water for a minute before using it.

Ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes. 

The City of Columbia Water Works is working to correct the problem.
