A morning fire in Columbia has claimed the life of a 62-year-old woman. Barbara Y. Floyd, of 2312 Chappelle Street, died shortly after 8 a.m. at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said an autopsy this morning showed she died from complications caused by a fire at her home.  The Columbia Fire Department responded to the blaze about 7:15 a.m. The Columbia Fire Department continues to investigate the origin of the fire.

Barbara Y. Floyd, of 2312 Chappelle Street, died shortly after 8 a.m. at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said an autopsy this morning showed she died from complications caused by a fire at her home.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to the blaze about 7:15 a.m. The Columbia Fire Department continues to investigate the origin of the fire.

Barbara Y. Floyd, 52, died in the fire at 2312 Chappelle Street.
