Columbia Police: Man Killed After Struck by Vehicle

The Columbia Police Department is investigating a death involving a motor vehicle in the Earlewood community.

The collision occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday night, Columbia Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said. 

Preliminary information suggests a vehicle struck a male victim and "dragged him for a significant distance" in the area of Earlewood and River drives, Timmons said. 

The description of the vehicle was not known as of this posting. The victim has not been identified by the Richland County Coroner's Office.

Investigators have leads in the case, Timmons said, and continue to gather information.
