Coroner: Moped Driver Dies After Labor Day Crash
A 43-year-old man injured in a moped accident on Labor Day has died, according to the Richland County Coroner's Office.

The driver of a moped involved in a single-vehicle crash on Blossom Street on Labor Day died early Tuesday morning from his injuries, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said.
Paul T. Lowrance, 43, of Columbia, was driving a moped near Pickens and Blossom Streets around 4 p.m. Monday when he lost control and struck a pole, Watts said.
Lowrance was transported by EMS to Palmetto Health Richland where he was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m. from injuries received in the crash, according to the coroner's office.
The accident remains under investigation by the Columbia Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit.
