One person was injured Monday afternoon in a moped accident on Blossom Street, according to the Columbia Police Department.  The accident occurred just before 4 p.m. in the 1600 block of Blossom Street. According to preliminary information, it appears that the moped driver ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a telephone pole head on, said City Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons.The driver was taken to a local hospital and was listed by medical staff in critical condition, Timmons said. The accident remains under investigation by the department's Traffic Safety Unit.
