Deputies: 2 Injured in Early Morning Carjacking, Assault

Two people injured in an aggravated assault and carjacking after they were approached by two unidentified males who asked for a ride.

Two people were injured during an aggravated assault and carjacking early Tuesday morning near Hopkins, according to the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. in the 1600 block of Pincushion Road.

Deputies say two people were approached by two unidentified males who asked for a ride from the Austin Woods Apartment complex on Garners Ferry Road to Pincushion Road.

Once there, the two males presented a knife and began assaulting the two victims, sheriff's department spokesman Curtis Wilson said.

One victim was stabbed in both the upper and lower body, and the other sustained several abrasions to the body, Wilson said.

The two suspects fled the area in the victims' 2011 black Ford Fusion with license plate HV9975.

The victims were transported to Palmetto Health Richland and were listed in stable condition, Wilson said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
