Father Charged After 5-Week-Old Twins Hospitalized

Richland County Sheriff's deputies arrested the father of 5-week-old twins Sunday after the children were hospitalized with serious injuries, sheriff's department spokesman Curtis Wilson said. 

The sheriff's department began investigating the incident after deputies were called to Palmetto Health Richland just before 7 p.m. Sunday in reference to a possible child abuse case, Wilson said. 

The twins were taken to the hospital with serious injuries to their upper and lower body, Wilson said. 

After interviewing the nurses, doctors and the children's parents the father, 45-year-old Michael Livingston, was charged with two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child.  

The children remain in the hospital.
