A woman who was shot while riding in a car near Farrow Road early Sunday morning has died, Columbia Police said.
The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on West Campanella Drive.
The male driver told investigators that he and a female passenger were traveling on West Campanella Drive when he heard gunshots. He then saw the passenger was critically injured, Columbia Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.
According to preliminary information, the victim was shot in the head, Timmons said.
The man called 911 and the victim was transported to a local hospital. She was pronounced dead by medical personnel Sunday afternoon, she said.
Columbia Police investigators continue to collect evidence and information to determine a motive for the shooting.
