GOP: The Voters Have Spoken

In a statement following their petition to halt a recount of all Richland County votes, the GOP leaders called for results to be certified.

After a judge issued a the South Carolina GOP filed a petition to halt that recount. 

Much of the debate comes from the The GOP argues that this is more than one percent as a one percent difference would trigger an automatic recount.

The S.C. Republican Party issued a statement this morning following its filing of an emergency petition with the S.C. Supreme Court seeking to overturn a circuit court order.

"There are clear legal provisions and procedures which dictate the conduct of elections and the certification of results. These are not being followed. The S.C. Republican Party has always stood for the rule of law and seeks to have this election certified in keeping with the clear letter of the law," said Executive Director Matt Moore.

"We strongly believe in getting to the bottom of what happened in Richland County, but politically-connected Democratic Party lawyers should not get special treatment. The voters have spoken, all ballots have been counted, and House District 75 selected Kirkman Finlay as its new Representative. Too many laws have been ignored in Richland County already, and we refuse to let it continue."
