Update: Several Downtown Columbia Roads Reopen After Flooding

Motorists should find an alternate route around downtown Columbia after heavy rain and flooding closed several roads.

Update, 7:03 p.m.: The following roads have reopened for traffic:

  • Read and Waverly streets
  • Gervais and Laurens streets
  • Assembly and Washington streets
  • Sumter and Wheat streets
  • Richland Street and Two Notch Road

Main at Waverly streets are still closed to traffic, Columbia Police said.

Columbia Police say the following roads are closed due to flooding and heavy rain:

  • Gervais and Laurens streets
  • Main and Whaley streets
  • Sumter and Wheat streets
  • Richland Street and Two Notch Road
  • Assembly and Washington streets
  • Read and Waverly streets
  • Blossom at Saluda near Maxcy Gregg Park
