House Speaker Bobby Harrell Retains High-Powered Attorneys
Ethics investigation is underway.
The Post and Courier is reporting that House Speaker Bobby Harrell has added to his defense team against state ethics charges.
Harrell has hired Charleston-based Attorney Bart Daniel. Daniel will join Gedney Howe on Harrell's legal team. Both attorneys worked on the Operation Lost Trust scandal in the 1990s and Howe was able to have one of his clients avoid conviction.
SLED announced it was looking into Harrell's finances in February at the urging of Attorney General Alan Wilson. Harrell has not been charged with a crime.
