Internal Poll Shows Colbert Busch Leading Sanford and Bostic

She would fare better against the former Charleston County Councilman according to figures.

On Monday, the campaign of Elizabeth Colbert Busch released an internal poll that showed the businesswoman ahead of both Curtis Bostic and Mark Sanford in potential general election match-ups to represent the First District in Congress.

Bostic and Sanford square off on Tuesday to determine who will face Colbert Busch on May 7.

Against Sanford, Colbert Busch led 47 to 44 percent. Against Bostic her margin was greater, 48 to 39 percent.

Colbert Busch was twice as favorable as unfavorable in the district, with percentages of 48 and 24 respectively. The ratio improves in Charleston where her numbers are 61 and 17.

An independent poll released last week by left-leaning Public Policy Polling showed Colbert Busch ahead of Sanford 47 to 45 percent and in a dead heat with Bostic at 43 percent apeice.

“It is clear the 1st district is hungry for the real world leadership and business experience that Elizabeth would bring to Washington and her focus on commonsense solutions, fiscal responsibility and creating new jobs clearly resonate with voters,” said campaign spokesman James Smith. “From her time as a single mother of three making $6.25 an hour to her twenty year career as a businesswoman creating jobs at South Carolina’s Ports, Elizabeth has shown that she is real world problem solver who will stand up to the dysfunctional, partisan politics of Washington and do what’s right for South Carolina families and businesses.”

The poll was conducted on March 25th-27th by Lake Research Partners. It surveyed 500 likely special election voters from with a margin of error of +/- 4.4 percent.
