Here are the top three stories in Columbia today:
- The Columbia Housing Authority has a vacant CEO position to fill and Mayor Daniel Rickenmann is calling for a nationwide search. In a letter written to the Authority, Rickenmann proposed hiring a firm to conduct a national search to fill the CEO position. He suggested the Florida-based firm Gans Gans & Associates which has worked with dozens of local housing authorities. (The State)
- Columbia Animal Services is offering a new volunteer service for residents to become more involved with the community called “Doggy Day Out.” The service has volunteers take dogs out of the animal shelter and on a day-long field trip. Orientation sessions are held once a month and the next one is on Feb. 19 at the Columbia Animal Shelter. (ColaDaily.com)
- The Columbia City Council is scheduled to vote on an ordinance designed to crack down on broken-down cars. The council will vote on an ordinance that specifies which unusable and broken down vehicles are a nuisance. If approved, it will grant the Columbia Police Department the ability to mandate the situation. (WIS10)
