Here are the top three stories in Columbia today:
- An arrest has been made in a Columbia missing persons investigation. Taylor Wardlaw, a 29-year-old female, was arrested in connection with the death of a missing person. She has been accused of fatally shooting a male acquaintance multiple times, who was reported missing on December 22nd. (Press Release Desk)
- During Thursday night's town hall meeting rezoning plans for 32 acres on Killian Road were discussed. Residents attended to learn more about a proposal for a development that would turn 32 acres of rural land into a commercial district. If the plan is approved by the city council, the development will proceed forward. (ColaDaily.com)
- The University of South Carolina's board of trustees renames a dormitory in honor of a prominent Black Columbia educator. The building that was previously named 700 Lincoln Street will be renamed after Celia Dial Saxon, an educator, and civil rights activist. Dial Saxon spent 57 years teaching in Columbia. (The State)
